Total Solar Eclipse Live from China what's hot!
Come to the Exploratorium for an overnight party—9:00 p.m., July 31, 2008, to 6:00 a.m., August 1—and see the Total Solar Eclipse: Live from China! Our Webcast team will be in China’s Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region to capture this awe-inspiring celestial event and transmit it to us via satellite. The Webcast is from 3:30 a.m. to 4:30 a.m., and there’ll be festivities all night long. Here are some of the things you can do:

• Walk through a yurt installation, and immerse yourself in the sights and sounds of Xinjiang.
• Enjoy live folk dance, storytelling, and music performances.
• Stargaze with the San Francisco Amateur Astronomers.
• Meet scientists from NASA’s Sun-Earth Connection Education Forum.
• See films about eclipses and related phenomena.

The museum will be open from 9:00 p.m., July 31, to 6:00 a.m., August 1; admission until 4:00 a.m. only. As space is limited, we strongly encourage advance ticket purchases online or call (415) 561-0308. Find out more details about the program.

Sip of Conflict
In development for over four years, the Exploratorium’s new Mind collection showcases dozens of interactive exhibits and artworks that let you explore thoughts, feelings, and the workings of your own mind.

• Drink from an unusual fountain and explore the tension between reason and emotion.
• Talk to a computer. Read a robot’s facial expressions.
• Catch your friend in a lie—or try to get away with one yourself.
• Check out your emotional responses to unusual situations.
• Try to read the emotions conveyed by others.
