Latino Engineering Day/Día de la Ingeniería (Free Day)
Sunday, September 29, 2013
Location: Exploratorium Pier 15
Join us for a family-friendly collaboration between the Exploratorium and the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers (SHPE). Our first free day at Pier 15, Latino Engineering Day/Día de la Ingeniería, combines panel discussions, presentations on the science and engineering heritage of Latinos, and playful activities such as Geodesic Gumdrops and Scribbling Machines. This annual, drop-in program is conducted primarily in Spanish and provides opportunities to meet with prominent engineers in the Latino community.
This year’s event focuses on our new home. Exploratorium staff along with engineers from SHPE and the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) will be on hand to offer insight into the restoration of Pier 15 and its innovative green energy systems. Originally a project of the Exploratorium Community Engagement Program, Engineering Day/Día de la Ingeniería is open to everyone as part of our Free Access Program*.
