Nobel Gala Reception

Monday, September 19th, 6-8pm

On Monday, September 19th, from 6-8pm, the Exploratorium’s outgoing director, Dr. Goéry Delacôte, and the Swedish and Norwegian consulates general of San Francisco -- Barbro Osher and Are-Jostein Norheim, respectively — host an exclusive gala reception at the Exploratorium to honor the over 30 Nobel Laureates of the Bay Area. The reception marks the waning days of the Nobel exhibition currently on view at the Exploratorium, and a flurry of important public lectures by local and visiting Laureates (on such cutting-edge topics as stem cells). Other guests expected to attend the September 19th gala include Warren and Chris Hellman, John and Liza Pritzker, Richard Goldman, Don and Doris Fisher, Dr. and Mrs. Harvey Glasser, Andy and Eva Grove, and Maurice Kanbar, among others. Among the Swedish dignitaries flying in for the occasion are Gunnar Lund, Ambassador of Sweden to the U.S.; Svante & Mrs. Lindqvist, Director, The Nobel Museum; Michael Sohlman, Director, The Nobel Foundation, Stockholm; Geir Lundstad, Director, The Nobel Institute, Oslo; Arvid Carlsson, Nobel Laureate in Medicine, 2000; and Kjell Esonark, Professor of Literature, University of Stockholm and Member, Royal Academy.
