Exploratorium Opening Gala to Feature Custom Lounges by 24 Bay Area Designers

Designer Showcase Explores Innovation, Technology and Art in an Homage to the Exploratorium’s New Home at Pier 15

On April 12, 2013 the Exploratorium will host its much anticipated opening Gala, a three-tiered event designed to appeal to a range of partying styles and price points, and featuring the design concepts of 24 Bay Area interior designers.

Lauded San Francisco designer Eugene Anthony of Eugene Anthony Design Group is curating a creative project with local interior designers to showcase their talents in the more than 24 hosted lounges for the Gala’s Supper Club. Anthony has challenged the designers to reflect the sensibility of the Exploratorium as they explore innovation, technology and art in their designs. 24 designers have currently confirmed their participation; click here to see the list of participating designers or see the list below.

Favreau Design

Favreau Design is an award-winning firm whose owner was a two-time semifinalist for the hit HGTV show Design Star and was recently featured on an episode of The White Room Challenge. With projects spanning the United States and offices on both coasts,Favreau Design easily orchestrates interior remodels and design throughout the Bay Area as far south as Los Gatos and spanning into Marin and the east bay. Favreau Design’s unique vision takes classic design styles from the 30s through the 70s and updates them for today’s contemporary living. When clients ask Favreau Design what our style is, we say, “yours” because we believe a successful designer should be able to work in any style to bring the client’s dreams to light.
 

Susan Subbotin Interiors

Deco Art

Caroline Stern is a decorative painter that has been working in design for 23 years. She has a background in fine arts and painting. Deco Art specializes in murals, faux finishes, specialty finishes, and furniture.  As well as large scale public art murals and art education with youth.

Mixing periods and styles is integral to what Maloos does whether it is bringing together a room or designing a specific piece of furniture or lighting. Her goal is to invoke history and infuse it with a bit of wit: an antique chair gets updates with the addition of Lucite arms and seating, a traditional wingback is cheekily reinvented with its balled seating and seat back. I have been fortunate to have a vast career of opportunities in my life. I spent 5 years working for the likes of the royal family in Saudi Arabia responsible for the outcome of the Royal Terminal at the King Khalid International Airport as well as being the director for a team of players responsible for the opening ceremonies hosting 30,000 people. I have owned and operated 2 retail furniture, accessory, and design galleries and have participated in opening 3 showrooms in the San Francisco Design Center where I created my own line of furniture. I have made myself available year after year to raise awareness and support of ASID, Special Olympics, DIFFA’S Dining by Design, Celebrations of Christmas, Cancer Society, Children of Shelters, and Shelter for Battered Women; any and all callings to lend a helping hand through our world of design.

The Exploratorium opens to the public on April 17, 2013.

Tuesday-Sunday 10am-5pm;  every Thursday evening adults only (ages 18 and up) 6pm-10pm.

Admission
