Exploratorium Adds Two New Directors to Board

The Exploratorium is pleased to announce two recent additions to its Board of Directors: Richard A. Laiderman, Executive Vice President and Treasurer of Providian Financial Corporation, one of the top ten credit card issuers in the United States, and David Lockwood, Chairman of the Board and CEO of Liberate Technologies.

Brief biographies follow.
Richard A. Laiderman
Richard Laiderman is Executive Vice President and Treasurer of Providian Financial Corporation, one of the top ten credit card issuers in the United States.

Prior to joining Providian, Laiderman was an Executive Vice President at Bank of America responsible for BankAmerica’s own debt and capital raising activities as well as securitization and domestic wholesale funding. In addition, Laiderman was responsible for investing Bank of America’s pension and 401k plans. Prior to Bank of America, Laiderman was a vice president at Bankers Trust in New York.

He holds a Masters in Finance and Information Systems from the Sloan School of Management at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics, also from M.I.T. Mr. Laiderman serves on the boards of the National Association of Corporate Treasurers, and the Mechanics Institute – a San Francisco library and chess room.

David Lockwood
Mr. Lockwood is Chairman of the Board and CEO of Liberate Technologies, San Mateo.

Before Liberate, he was CEO and president of InterTrust Technologies Corporation (ITRU). During his tenure, he led the restructuring of the company and managed the execution of the firm's digital rights management and intellectual property strategy. In January 2003, InterTrust was acquired by Fidelio Acquisition Company, LLC, a company formed by Sony Corporation of America, Royal Philips Electronics, and certain other investors. Prior to joining InterTrust, Mr. Lockwood was a managing director at Goldman Sachs, a leading financial services firm.

Hours of Operation & New Evening Hours
Tuesday-Sunday 10am-5pm;  every Thursday evening adults only (ages 18 and up) 6pm-10pm.

$29 for adults, with lower rates for SF Bay Area residents, youth, seniors, students, teachers and the disabled. Tickets available at the door and advance tickets available online at www.exploratorium.edu/visit/tickets.
