This iPhone-based exhibit allows visitors to investigate the phenomena that give bodies of water (such as San Francisco Bay) their colors. The tint of the sky reflecting from the water's surface, light scattered from particles in the water, and, for shallower waters, light rays reflecting from the bottom—all contribute to the way we perceive oceans, bays, and lakes.
