Join the Exploratorium for our final webcast with researchers on board the Nautilus. We discuss the highlights of their three month expedition to the Mediterranean and Black Seas, as well as to the eastern Atlantic Ocean. Learn about hydrothermal vents, organisms living in extreme environments and ancient shipwrecks.
The Nautilus is exploring the Mediterranean Sea and Atlantic Ocean looking for hydrothermal vents and the animal and microbial communities that spring up around them, as well as seeking underwater volcanoes and ancient shipwrecks. The ship is equipped with two remotely operated vehicles (ROVs) along with telepresence technology that beams real-time video feeds from the ROVs to scientists on shore. Follow along with expedition leader Bob Ballard and his crew as they investigate parts of the deep sea that have never been seen before.
