Fujiko Nakaya’s fog installation stretches across the 150-foot-long pedestrian bridge that spans the water between Piers 15 and 17. Water pumped at high pressure through more than 800 nozzles shrouds participants in mist and puts their own perceptions at the center of their experience.

We were in the Mission and Bayview districts and on the Embarcadero for a free, preopening extravaganza that was part road show, part street festival, and all Exploratorium. On the Move featured a fleet of moving trucks equipped with museum exhibits and experiences accompanied by artworks, films, food, family activities, and live performances that culminated in a spectacular finale at Pier 15.
